Elle is a Textiles Artist & Material Researcher.
Her Textiles journey began when she was eight years old, learning to sew on a small pink sewing machine. As she grew up, her mum introduced her to various different crafts, such as macramé, and encouraged Elle to follow her creative Textile passions.
During University she specialised in learning the craftmanship behind weaving - exploring handlooms, Dobby and Jacquard looms. Alongside taking an interest in naturally dyeing the yarns and fabrics to grow a deeper understanding of the ability of slow, hand-crafted processes.
Within her final year of studying she integrated and built upon her interest in sustainability and biomaterial processes, which began through weaving threads made from eggshell waste.
Through her experience, she has created a series called 'BIO-ZINES' which aims to release four magazines a year as the gateway to the Bio-Design communities 'secrets'. From the latest sustainable design news and debates, to naturally dyeing recipes and small inclusive biomaterial projects to help you learn and become a part of this growing community.
' I have learnt that bio-based circular design methods, in order to be industry successful, will require educating both our designers and consumers to the same level of degree. '
